  • Proactive Prevention: We emphasize proactive hazard identification and risk assessment, coupled with environmental impact assessments and health hazard assessments, to prevent incidents, occupational illnesses, and minimize environmental disturbances before they occur. This includes thorough pre-job planning, job hazard analyses (JHAs), environmental assessments, health hazard assessments, and regular health, safety, and environmental inspections.
  • Continuous Improvement: We are constantly seeking ways to improve our health, safety, and environmental performance through training, feedback, incident/near-miss investigations, occupational health monitoring, environmental monitoring, and the implementation of best practices and innovative technologies.
  • Employee Empowerment: We empower our employees to take ownership of health, safety, and environmental stewardship by encouraging them to identify hazards, stop work if necessary, report health and environmental concerns, and actively participate in health, safety, and environmental programs.

Our comprehensive safety program includes the following key elements:

  • Safety Training: We provide comprehensive safety training to all employees, covering topics such as hazard communication, fall protection, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment (PPE), and specific hazards related to marine construction.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): We provide and require the use of appropriate PPE for all tasks, including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, high-visibility clothing, and specialized equipment for working near or on water (e.g., personal flotation devices, etc.).
  • Equipment Safety: We maintain all equipment in safe operating condition through regular inspections and maintenance programs.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation: We have a robust incident reporting and investigation process to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Emergency Response Planning: We have established emergency response plans for various scenarios, including medical emergencies, environmental spills, and weather-related events, to ensure the safety of our personnel and the public.
  • Subcontractor Safety: We hold our subcontractors to the same high safety standards that we maintain for our own employees.

Pacific Pile & Marine’s “Great Safety Catch” program represents the culture that is carried by all our employees who are always looking for ways to improve our safety program. It is representative of our dedication and the work we do every day. Our top-down safety culture starts with our Company Leadership and flows down to the workforce completing our projects. 

Safety planning is integral to projects from early design to project completion. “There’s still more out there to catch”, reflects the ongoing mission to identify issues before they become an accident. Our safety department works with project teams to ensure safe attitudes and choices are made both on and off the job. 

We work with safety & health representatives from OHS, OSHA, and other national and state regulatory agencies to ensure our policies and are world-class. We are a recognized top performer in our industry and our reputation reflects our commitment to safety.

Drug and Alcohol Prevention

Our company maintains substance-impaired employees are a potential danger to themselves and others in the workplace. Our policies strictly prohibit the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, controlled substances, and the improper use of over-the-counter drugs in the workplace.
