Seattle, WA – This month, Pacific Pile & Marine crews are beginning work on a $4M Test Pile Program at the Port of Seattle’s Terminal 5. This project is an effort to provide better information to assist with the design for upgrades to accommodate heavier cranes and provide deeper drafts for larger vessels involved in TransPacific trade.
Test results will help determine the number and depth of piles required for improvements at the Port and could save the project $250M. About 27 piles 113-ft ot 178-ft in length will be installed at the edge of the Terminal 5 wharf under this project. The project should be complete by March, 2016. The project is being performed in association with Applied Foundation Testing.
The T5 Berth Modernization project is slated to begin in 2017 and finish by 2020. Read full article here.
