Retrofitted 230-ft x 60-ft barge for a floating extension to a cruise ship berth. Involved construction of new and retrofitted dolphins, barge moorage system, and a 12-ft x 116-ft 50-ton transfer bridge with support platform. Barge received 43-ft x179-ft concrete wear deck, safety rails, and 18-ft x 20-ft platform to support the transfer bridge.
Barge moorage system utilized 24-in dia. pile-driven to a depth of 40-ft and socket an additional 40-ft into bedrock using a reverse circulation down the hole hammer overburden drilling system.
The project was performed during the winter season through very inclement weather. PPM provided resources to ensure the project was complete prior to the 2013 cruise ship season.
