Juneau, AK – Built in the 1980s, the Don Statter Harbor in Alaska’s Auke Bay required a substantial upgrade to its moorage facility. The harbor serves the residents of the Mendenhall Valley and regional harbor patrons along with more than half a million commercial and recreational users who frequent the harbor each year. Owned by City Borough of Juneau Valley, the harbor is the most heavily used of the City’s six launches and is one of Southeast Alaska’s most desirable summer harbors.
The renovation presented many challenges, including water depths of over 100 feet and extensive overburden where pile was to be installed for the moorage floats. Using an innovative drilling technique, PPM was able to install the 240 foot pile full length. Click here for full article.
