Access Trestles

PPM is experienced with end-over-end construction and marine-based trestle installations. We can provide access trestles for traffic diversion and accessing environmentally-sensitive areas. Our team installed a 4,500 LF work platform to service a water conduction line; the longest temporary work platform in the region. Access trestles have a myriad of design-build and modular construction applications and can be used to service difficult to access areas including mines.

Augercast

PPM has installed augercast pile for sports stadiums, multi-story high-rises, large residential, treatment facilities, power plants. Installations have included augercast pile up to 36-in dia. to depths up to 90-ft in a variety of locations across PNW and Canada.

Breakwaters

PPM has the capability and expertise to design and install breakwaters of varying types including rubble mounds, floating, and driven pile.
Rubble Mound
PPM's dredge and cap equipment is well suited for the construction of rubble mound breakwaters. Our RTK-GPS equipped excavators with 360-degree rotating bucket knuckle allows for the ability to key-in riprap to the required design surface. Typically, a contractor would use a skiff box to place the material whereas PPM uses barge-mounted excavators to place the rock with the intended design loaded onto the operators screen to allow for exact placement. Our 600 yard dump barge aids in quickly placing a large quantity of aggregate material in a uniform method.
Floating Breakwater
PPM is proficient in floating breakwaters and, in coordination with our float manufactures and civil engineering partners, can provide a full design-build package we're able to provide a full design-build package. Our fleet of cranes, barges, and tugs are able to transport floats up to 50-ft x120-ft and set anchors in water depths up to 275-ft.
Driven Pile
PPM has installed pipe pile-flat sheet combined wall breakwaters, H-pile-sheet pile combined wall breakwaters, and traditional timber pile breakwaters. Our in-house engineering in combination with our extensive inventory of cranes, pile hammers, and barges enable us to install a wide array of structural breakwaters of varying lengths and wall type. Supported by a network of trusted engineering partners, we're able to design and install pile-supported breakwaters for any environment.

Docks / Piers / Wharves

PPM has the expertise to construct and maintain steel, timber, concrete, and composite marine structures.
Construction
Our team has constructed and maintained high-capacity military piers, container facilities, timber docks, open-cell® and traditional bulkheads including combi-pile walls, floating harbors, and high-capacity travel lift piers. These structures have included drilled and driven piles, rock anchors, cast-in-place concrete, pre-cast concrete panels, post-tensioning, structural steel erection, timber, fendering systems, crane rails, and all associated utilities.
Maintenance
Our projects have included new construction and renovation of existing facilities including thermal spray metalizing for corrosion protection and under-dock repairs to stabilize structures.
Conditions
Much of our work has taken place around active container operations, port facilities, ammunition handling, and cruise ship traffic throughout the PNW, AK, and Canada.

Dredge and Cap

Pacific Pile & Marine has the specialized equipment and capabilities to perform a variety of dredging and capping services.

Dredging

PPM owns and operates an extensive range dredging equipment that can be configured to perform standard dredge operations to environmental remediation and shoreline restoration. Our diverse fleet of barges, cranes, and excavators allows us to engage in complex projects including the following three construction types:

Environmental
PPM is experienced in remediation for contaminated sites  including necessary EPA-mandated guidelines and often teams with environmental engineering firms to provide value-engineering and constructability reviews. Our crews are certified to handle subtitle D and C material and trained in the use of bmps including the deployment of debris booms and turbidity curtains. PPM maintains partnerships with local water-treatment professionals to ensure water is properly processed. Equipment is outfitted with GPS/RTK hardware and software designed to perform precise, stepped dredge cuts from 6 to 12-in and engineered caps.
Maintenance
In addition to routine maintenance dredging, our team is capable of performing specialized, in-marina, precision dredging utilizing shallow draft dredging equipment outfitted with RTK. The small footprint of our equipment allows us to reach difficult to access areas with minimal disruption to on-going maritime operations. PPM maintains portable, modular barges that can be transported for inland work as well. Our dredge excavators and cranes are equipped with RTK-GPS which allows for sub-inch precision dredging and real time control to the Operator to maintain the required dredge cuts. PPM owns a variety of dredging buckets including sealed environmental Young buckets, Jewel and Young rehandle buckets.
Disposal
PPM owns and operates a permitted transload facility located on the lower Duwamish River, a major Washington waterway, able to transfer TSCA and CERCLA classified material into trucks for disposal. PPM is experienced transloading contaminated materials into containers, rail cars, and direct loading truck-and-pups. PPM owns and operates bottom-dump barges to deposit approved materials at state-approved open-water disposal sites. The bottom dump barges meet Department of Natural Resources requirements for the Open Water Disposal Site Use Authorization Permit and is capable of being loaded in shallow draft areas.
Survey
Our team is capable of performing hydro-graphic surveys to ensure consistent, accurate information throughout the dredging and capping process. Our hydrographic survey boat is equipped with a Reson 7125 multibeam capable of 0.5 degree beam widths and the Applanix POS MV IMU. Data from the boat can collected and processed in-house using HYPACK software. The information collected from the survey boat can be uploaded to our dredging software to identify areas needing potential corrections.

Capping

PPM's equipment is frequently used for projects requiring environmental or engineered capping. The RTK-GPS system in-conjunction with the hyrdographic survey boat can be used to place cap material to required elevations and slopes.

PPM employees a workforce certified for hazardous material handling and owns several high-capacity excavators including a 1200 Hitachi Excavator, a narrow footprint pedestal-mounted excavator capable of limited access marina work. Most contractors perform dredging with cable suspended clamshell buckets from large cranes which is imprecise, especially for environmental cleanups. PPM also employees modular, portable barges capable of being configured to 20-ft x 50-ft to 60-ft x 140-ft, 800-CY bottom-dump barges, environmental-sealed buckets, and a multi-beam survey boat capable of developing in-depth bathymetric surveys for project design, quality control, and project close out documentation. Another major distinction in PPM's service offering is our fully permitted transload facility. PPM has the ability and expertise to deliver turn-key dredging services from pre-construction to final disposal.

Drilled Sockets

PPM has established itself as an industry leader in drilled socket installation having installed the longest rock socket in a marine environment and achieving the desired geotechnical requirements. Our team has the ability to install single length socketed pile up to 250-ft depths through a variety of adverse rock conditions from fractured bedrock to hard rock drilling. PPM uses a unique method to advance the casing as the pile is drilled to depth to provide a continuously cased hole. This installation method eliminates excess sloughing while mitigating subsurface challenges ultimately reducing geotechnical risk. Our workforce is experienced at managing cobbles and boulders at tip as well as deep overburden.

We are one of the few US Contractors that can self-perform a turn-key socketed pile foundation system. Fewer still, we have the ability to install single, long length socketed pile. PPM owns and operates various overburden drilling systems and is well-versed in reverse circulation methods as well as traditional sockets and high-capacity internal anchor pins. Our experience includes vertical foundation pile and guide piles for float systems. We have performed drilling operations in areas with limited access or in remote locations giving us regional geotechnical experience.

Driven Pile

PPM is capable of driving large and small diameter concrete, wood, steel, spin-fin, open, conical tip, and fiber-reinforced plastic pile for upland foundations and marine structures. Our team has installed foundation pile around active power lines, winter time installations using ice-roads crossing wetlands, remote locations, environmentally sensitive areas, military installations, active traffic zones, and commercial locations. Our crews have installed plumb and batter foundation pile ranging from 8- up to 108-in diameter pile and single lengths up to 260-ft using a variety of impact and vibratory hammers. Our driven pile experience includes large diameter, high-capacity Oil & Gas installations in addition to the largest diameter driven pile for the Washington Dept. of Transportation. PPM is also experienced in jetting concrete and steel piles.

Heavy Lift

Barging
PPM owns and operates a fleet of barges and has access to additional 500 to 6000-ton capacity barges and an extensive network of tug boats to service any marine transportation needs from AK t0 Central America. PPM barges range from small modular barges (10-ft x 20-ft) to large capacity open sea barges (72-ft x 286-ft). Our diverse fleet of barges can haul any type of material from soils to large piling to miscellaneous equipment and construction materials.
